A Debreceni Honvédtemető és Mauzóleum – mint történelmi emlékhely – helyi és nemzeti vonatkozású történelmi évfordulók, koszorúzási ünnepségek, kegyeleti megemlékezések helyszíne. A Honvédtemető fái alatt nyugszik 112 '48-as honvéd, 634 orosz katona, és azok a magyar és német katonák, akik az első és második világháborúban a környéken vesztették életüket. Összesen 4500-an alusszák itt örök álmukat.
