Thék Endre (1842–1919) bútorasztalos, a magyar nagyüzemi bútorgyártás megteremtőjének időskori portréja látható. Budapesten a Józsefvárosban nyitotta meg asztalos műhelyét 1872-ben, melyet később gőzgéppel is felszerelt. Megvásárolta az Üllői út és a mai Leonardo utca sarkán álló Tauszig bútorgyárat. Gyára 1885-re Magyarország legnagyobb és legjobban gépesített bútorgyára lett. Az 1890-es években kibővítette gyárát, és zongoragyártásra is berendezkedett. Orosházán tanoncotthont alapított, alelnöke volt az Országos Ipartestületnek és a Budapesti Kereskedelmi és Iparkamarának.

Mr. Endre Thék (Orosháza, Békés County, 3 November 1842 - Balatonfüred, Zala County, 8 June 1919) carpenter, furniture and piano manufacturer, founder of the first Hungarian furniture factory, founder of Hungarian large-scale furniture production. He opened his carpentry workshop in Józsefváros, Budapest, in 1872, which was later equipped with a steam engine. He bought the Tauszig furniture factory on the corner of Üllői út and today's Leonardo Street. By 1885, its factory had become the largest and best-mechanized furniture factory in Hungary. In the 1890s, he expanded his factory and also set up equipment for piano production. He founded an apprenticeship in Orosháza and was the vice-president of the National Industrial Association and the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
