A Balaton déli partján fekvő települést 1864-től nevezik Balatonlellének. 1978-ban Balatonboglárral Boglárlelle néven egyesült, majd 1991-ben a két település különvált. As a result of the diligent work of the Bathing Association, founded in 1904, the bathing life in the village was boosted, and as a result of this, many resorts, villas and guest houses were built at that time. The settlement on the southern shore of Lake Balaton has been called Balatonlelle since 1864. In 1978, it was united with Balatonboglár as Boglárlelle, and in 1991 the two settlements separated.
