Martfű önálló községgé válásának és rohamos fejlődésének elindítója a Cikta cipőgyár volt, mely az érsekújvári, Bata céghez tartozó gyár leányvállalataként jött létre. 1949-es államosítása után Tisza Cipőgyár néven működött tovább. Szervezte a gyárban működő brigádok, sport- és kulturális életét, a szabadidő eltöltését, akár társadalmi munka keretében is.

It was the Cikta shoe factory that launched the rapid development of Martfű and made it become an incorporated town. The factory was an affiliated firm of the Bata company of Érsekújvár. After the nationalization of 1949, the factory kept on operating under the name: Tisza Shoe Factory. They organised the sport- and cultural lives and freetime activities of factory brigades, even in the frame of social work.
