Bauer Sándor, a kép készítője; 1946-ban került az MTI-n belül működő Magyar Film Irodához fotóriporternek, majd 1957-től a Vendéglátás magazin munkatársa volt. Több mint négy évtizedes pályájának hagyatéka mintegy húszezer, nagyrészt negatívban fennmaradt fotó.

Kohn Sámuel tartotta az első magyar hitszónoklatot a Dohány utcai zsinagógában. Tevékeny része volt az 1868. évi zsidó egyetemes zsinat összehívásában. A rabbiképző intézet vezérlő bizottságában, ú. m. a VI. községkerületben az elnöki tisztet foglalta el. Sokat tett a pesti zsidóság magyarosítása érdekében. Érdemeit 1905-ben főrabbivá előléptetésével ismerték el. I. Ferenc József előbb a királyi tanácsosi, utóbb az udvari tanácsosi ranggal tüntette ki. Papi hívatásától nem állt távol kutató természete és írói hajlama. Tudományos munkáit magyarul, németül és héberül írta, legszívesebben történeti tanulmányokkal foglalkozott. erzsebetvaros.hu

A picture from the photo collection of photographer Sándor Bauer who was the photo reporter of the Hungarian Film Office (belonged to MTI) as of 1946, and the employee of magazine Vendéglátás as of 1957. His legacy is about 20 thousand photos, mainly in negative.

Memorial plaques of Chief Rabbi Dr. Sámuel Kohn and Orientalist Ignác Goldziher. Sámuel Kohn gave the first Hungarian sermon in the Dohány Street Synagogue. He had an active part in convoking the 1868 Jewish Universal Synod. He held the presidency in the leading committee of the rabbinic training institute, and in the 6th municipal district. He did a lot to hungarianize the Jews of Pest. His merits were recognized in 1905 by his promotion to Chief Rabbi. Franz Joseph I of Austria first awarded him the rank of royal councilor and later the court councilor. His rabbinic vocation was not far from his researching nature and writing aptitude. He wrote his scientific works in Hungarian, German and Hebrew, preferring to study history.
