A templom 1700-ban súlyos károkat szenvedett egy földrengés miatt. A torony sisakját le kellett bontani, ezt bádogtetővel pótólták és földig érő támpillárekkel erősítették meg. A templomot és a tornyot Schulek Frigyes 1888–1889-ben restaurálta. A hagyomány szerint a Margit-ereklyéket a klarissza rend 1782-es feloszlatása után befalazták a templom kriptájában, így azok ma is az épületben vannak.

The church was severely damaged by an earthquake in 1700. The top of the tower had to be demolished and was replaced with a tin roof and reinforced with buttresses reaching to the ground. The church and tower were restored by Frigyes Schulek in 1888-1889. According to tradition, the Margaret relics were walled up in the church crypt after the dissolution of the order of Clarisses in 1782, thus they are still in the building today.
