A híd nevét a reformkori vízszabályozásokat irányító Beszédes Józsefről kapta, aki Dunaföldváron hunyt el és a helybeli temetőben nyugszik.

The bridge was named after József Beszédes, who was in charge of water regulation during the reform era and died in Dunaföldvár, where he was buried in the local cemetery.
