Information strucure coding strategies in Northen Mansi My research examines the use oftwo particles in Northern Mansi: ta and ti. 1 hypothesize that the function of the particles is to mark focus on the verb. It is unclear whether particles can mark morphological focus in other constructions used to code information structure. By syntactically analysing nine folklore prose tex ts, 1 determined that from among the topic- and focuscoding structures discussed in the literature, ta and ti can appear in aU cases except when dative movement occurs. This division of functions supports the analysis that the particles are used to mark focus on the verb.
