A képen Szterényi József (1861-1941) a harmadik Wekerle-kormány Kereskedelemügyi miniszterének portréja látható. Bár felsőfokú végzettsége nem volt, 1890-ben Baross Gábor pártfogásával bekerült a kereskedelemügyi minisztériumba, ahol kezdetben iparfejlesztési ügyekkel foglalkozott. 1896-ban országos iparoktatási főigazgató, 1900-ban miniszteri tanácsos, 1905-től 1910-ig államtitkár - még Vörös László a Fejérváry-kormány kereskedelemügyi miniszterének előterjesztésére a király nevezte ki -, ebből az időből nevéhez fűződik az ipartörvény módosítása.
