A Kövér család az egyik legnagyobb földbirtokos Martfűn már a 19 század közepén, tulajdonukban volt a téglagyár is. Birtokain fejlett gazdálkodás folyt, egyik családtagja országgyűlési képviselő. Leghíresebb tagja, Kövér Miklós felhagyott a családi birtok igazgatásával, és – felvéve a Mariházy nevet – színésznek állt. 1908-tól színi direktor lett Kecskeméten.

The horse stable and granary of the family Kövér's farm. The family Kövér was already the biggest land owner in Martfű in the middle of the 19th century. They also owned the brickworks. They had developed farming on the lands and one of them was a Member of the Parliament. The most famous family member Miklós Kövér gave up running his property and became an actor under the name: Mariházy. He became a theatre director in Kecskemét as of 1908.
