A település az 1852-es császári látogatás után indult igazán fejlődésnek, ebben az időszakban épültek a képeslapokon is látható reprezentatív szállodák és fürdők. A fürdőtelep központját alkotó nagy épületkomplexum, a Casinot is magába foglaló Gyógycsarnokhoz zárt folyosókkal (kolonnád) kapcsolódó pompás és a maga korában legmodernebbnek számító szállodák egyike, a Szapáry-fürdővel szemben. A ma Romániában található fürdőváros a képeslap postára adásának idején Magyarországhoz tartozott.

The picture side of the postcard shows the Ferencz József courtyard in Herculesfürdő facing the promenade. The settlement started to develop after the imperial visit of 1852, when the representative hotels and baths shown on the postcards were built. The large complex of buildings that form the centre of the spa, the Medicinal Hall, including the Casino, is one of the most modern hotels of its time, with covered passages (colonnade), opposite the Szapáry Baths. The bathing town, now in Romania, was part of Hungary at the time the postcard was posted.
